1. What is a digital marketing plan?

A digital marketing plan is a document which shares details on the following:

  • Short, medium, and long term goals
  • Strategies used
  • The channels used
  • Investment and budget
  • Important dates and events

2. SWOT

One of the key elements of your plan is to conduct a SWOT analysis. SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. This needs to be completed both internally and externally.

The whole point of this initial legwork is to find out what environment the business is operating in, what strategies your competitors are using, and what your business is currently doing well and not so well.

3. Your Target Customer

Next we need to look into your target customer. Find out their daily routine and where they hangout. Where do they get their information from? What is the best digital way to target them?

4. Work out your digital goals

Once you have more of an idea of your target market and your target customer, your next job is to figure out what your goals are. Is it just to get more sales? Do you want more people to see your content? Do you want to boost your rankings on Google?

5. Choose your digital elements

What digital elements are you going to focus on in order to achieve the above goals. Remember the main elements of digital marketing are: SEO, website development, social media advertising, social media management, email marketing, content marketing and pay per click.

6. Set out your strategies for each element

Now you have chosen your digital elements, you now need to focus on what unique strategy you will use for each individual one to achieve your goals.

7. Set out a Timeline

This is perhaps the most crucial element of the plan. When are you going to achieve your goals? If you are considering a website build, when will you have it developed by?

All these steps are crucial to your plan and will result in the running of more successful campaigns going forward. If you have any questions, feel free to comment below or shoot me across a DM and I would be happy to answer them!
